Message from the BEN FUND

Thank you for being a donating member of the Ben Fund. Over recent years the Fund has continued to expand its facilities and offer to better support both serving and retired officers. As a retired member you have access to the following comprehensive range of services:

  • Physiotherapy
  • Mental health support
  • A range of holistic treatments
  • Free respite breaks for members (and their families) who are unwell
  • Financial hardship support in the form of grants

Full details of the Ben Fund offer and how to apply for treatment/ services can be found on our website www.thebenfund.co.uk. This includes verbal testimonials from retired members who have recently used our services.

You will be aware of the ongoing cost pressures that currently face us all as individuals including the cost of energy and food. As a charity that relies heavily on member donations, The Ben Fund has worked hard to be more efficient and absorb these costs. In recognition of the additional financial pressures facing the Fund, the Trustees agreed at their meeting in January 2023, to raise the monthly donation for retired officers. With effect from the 1 April 2023, the donation will increase by £1 to £6 per month or £72 per year. This represents the first donation increase since 2016.

Officers who are retired from Cumbria, Merseyside, GMP and Cheshire do not need to do anything to amend your current donation. We will make the necessary change with your pension provider.

Officers who are retired from Lancashire, North Wales or the NCA will need to amend their standing order to £6 per month with effect from 1 April 2023. This can quickly and easily be done via online banking.

We believe that this increase represents excellent value for money in relation to the comprehensive support offer that the Ben Fund provides to its members.

Should you wish to clarify or discuss the above please feel free to contact me.
