THE BEN FUND is an independent charity dedicated to supporting and caring for the police from recruitment into retirement. 

We are dedicated to supporting your physical and mental health and wellbeing. We understand that the police family has and continues to face unprecedented challenges. Whether facing Austerity with its impact upon terms and conditions, pay and pensions or on the frontline of supporting communities, members of the police family face unique pressures. We are here to support you when you need us.

We recognise that you may, from time to time, look at your pay slip to ensure you are getting value for money from the various schemes you may be in. We believe that the Ben Fund provides you a unique care package representing excellent value for money including:-

  • Counselling service provided to members on a self-referral and confidential basis
  • Physiotherapy treatment at St Michael’s Lodge – Lancashire, and at our satellite locations in Cheshire, Cumbria, GMP,  Merseyside and North Wales
  • Respite & Recovery breaks to members and their families, who meet the criteria. These are provided through our partner holiday companies at a choice of holiday parks across England, Scotland & Wales
  • Residential Wellbeing breaks at St Michael’s Lodge to members who meet the criteria
  • Holistic Treatments available including mindfulness, massage and alternative therapies (when referred by a Ben Fund Physiotherapist or Counsellor)
  • Financial Hardship Assistance via grants
  • Hardship in Bereavement Grant, where a member dies whilst still a serving officer, a grant of up to £5,000 may be paid to the dependent(s) or nominated person where there is a need to alleviate immediate financial hardship
  • Weekend Bed & Breakfast breaks available at St Michael’s Lodge in the Ribble Valley
  • Discounted holiday breaks available through our partner holiday companies
