We are very happy to announce that North Wales Police officers will be able to join The Ben Fund from 1 June and receive all the support we offer for their mental and physical ill-health.
CEO of The Ben Fund, Jerry Graham, said: “We are absolutely delighted that North Wales Police officers will be joining us. They operate within the North West region for almost everything else, so it makes absolute sense that they join us in The Ben Fund.”
The Ben Fund’s main centre is at St Michael’s Lodge, between Whalley and Blackburn, and offers facilities including physiotherapy, counselling, hydrotherapy, a fitness studio and Pilates classes. When it comes to support with recovery from injuries, it doesn’t matter if those injuries occurred on or off duty. North Wales Police officers – who like other colleagues in the North West will be asked to make a small monthly donation to be part of the charity – will also be able to receive treatment closer to where they live, Jerry said. He added: “We would encourage officers to join The Ben Fund, as it’s so beneficial for their health and wellbeing. We’re really looking forward to building up a relationship with North Wales Police, and we’re going to be putting a Ben Fund physiotherapist in Colwyn Bay so that officers don’t necessarily have to travel to Lancashire to get treatment.” Treatment can be applied for from date of joining for all.
Both serving North Wales Police officers and officers who retire from today will be eligible to join the charity and access our superb services which assist with recovery from physical injuries and mental health illnesses. There is a 6-month payment holiday for serving North Wales Police officers who sign on as new members (which concludes at the end of November), a 12-month payment holiday for new recruits and a 3-month payment holiday for retirees.
North Wales Police Federation Secretary Mark Jones said: “The Police Federation have had a long-standing relationship with The Ben Fund and, from speaking to colleagues in the North West and having personally visited St Michael’s Lodge in Lancashire, the services and treatments provided by them are exceptional. “We all know just how tough policing can be so to have the support of The Ben Fund is key to keeping us all fit and well physically, emotionally and financially. “I would encourage all colleagues take a close look and seriously consider joining The Ben Fund. You may not need their services today, and you may not think you will ever need their support, but we never know what is around the corner so it is always wise to be in best possible position when help is needed.”
Officers can find out more at Apply for membership | The Ben Fund, where they can also apply online to become a member or please speak to your local Federation.
